Micro-features are the fundamental building block of the micro-device. MiniFAB has developed a set of processing tools to provide an extensive range of micro-features that can be used to fabricate your micro-device. Below are examples of commonly used micro-features currently available in our toolbox. Our expertise is in the processing of polymers, thin metal films and silicon surfaces to produce individual features from <1µm to 1mm. We welcome enquires for application specific micro-geometries.
MiniFAB can fabricate micro-holes in plastics, thin metal films and plastic packaging films. Circular or arbitrary shaped micro-holes can be fabricated in a range of sizes from a few micrometres to several hundred micrometres with a side wall profiles from near vertical to any specified angle.

An extensive range of shapes can be fabricated in plastics and thin metal films. Positive or negative profiles of arbitrary shapes can be fabricated in polymers or on metal surfaces. The depth of the feature can range from sub-micron to a few hundred micrometers. MiniFAB’s expertise is in selecting the most suitable method to create the desired features.

Micro-channels are a building block of micro-fluidics and a key capability of MiniFAB. Specifically, long channels with controlled side-wall profiles can follow any defined path and interconnect with other features.
MiniFAB can pattern areas of your parts with any arbitrary shape for the purpose of modifying tactile, optical, fluidic or mechanical properties. Micro-textures can be combined with other micro-structures in order to modify wetability and friction in specific locations. Surfaces for biological applications can be textured to initiate or inhibit cell growth.

Micro fabricated optical structures can provide diffractive and refractive effects. Optical elements can be integrated onto surfaces to form a lens or DOE with either spherical or cylindrical profiles.
